Beware of words that are too often coupled, such as the ones that I listed above.  Always try to write and speak in a fresh way.

I went to Google and typed “copious notes” in the search window (in quotation marks).  It came up 479,000 times.

Avoid pregnant pause and miserable failure (or failed miserably).  Hatred and violence and women and children are particularly boring collocations.
